Russian missile, drone strikes kill 6 in Ukraine

Kyiv (Web Desk): Russian forces launched a series of missile and drone attacks across various regions of Ukraine, resulting in at least 6 deaths and numerous injuries.

According to Ukrainian officials, Russian forces targeted 25 locations, including the capital, Kyiv. The city of Dnipro was the worst affected, where an attack on a residential building killed 2 people and left 12 others injured. In Zaporizhzhia, 3 people were killed in separate attacks.

Ukrainian Prime Minister confirmed that significant energy infrastructure in Kharkiv and Kyiv was damaged during the Russian assaults, causing widespread power outages in several areas, although repair work is ongoing.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia launched over 450 drones and 45 missiles overnight. Ukrainian forces managed to intercept and destroy 9 missiles and 406 drones. On the other hand, the Russian Ministry of Defence claimed its forces had downed 79 Ukrainian drones.

Ukraine’s Ministry of Energy confirmed that power supply was affected in several regions, including Dnipro. Russian authorities stated that these strikes on energy facilities were aimed at weakening Ukraine’s military capabilities.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the attacks and urged that Western sanctions on Russia's energy sector should remain in place, emphasizing that there should be no easing of restrictions following these assaults.
