PM Shehbaz pledges provision of equal opportunities to women

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed his government’s strong commitment to promoting women’s empowerment and ensuring they have equal opportunities and a supportive environment.

Speaking at a ceremony in Islamabad on Saturday to mark International Women’s Day, the prime minister paid tribute to the remarkable contributions women have made in various sectors, including politics, the judiciary, education, and information technology.

He particularly acknowledged the vital role of women in rural areas and their invaluable contributions to the country’s development.

The prime minister highlighted some recent initiatives introduced by the federal government to benefit women, such as the launch of pink buses in Islamabad to provide safer and more convenient transportation for women.

He also announced the creation of a Working Women Endowment Fund, designed to support female workers, and revealed plans to open daycare centers soon in Islamabad to help working women manage their professional and family responsibilities.

PM Shehbaz praised the Punjab government’s Women Empowerment Package, emphasizing that provincial governments are working in close coordination with the federal government to advance the welfare of women across the country. 

He expressed his belief that providing women with the right opportunities would allow them to reach their full potential.

Reflecting on his tenure as Punjab chief minister, PM Shehbaz pointed to the successful initiatives, including the distribution of monthly stipends to promote the enrollment of girls in schools, especially in South Punjab.

He also mentioned that during his previous term, there were no children working in brick kilns in Punjab, with around ninety thousand children being enrolled in school.

Minister for Law and Justice, Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, also addressed the gathering, calling for collective efforts to ensure women’s rights and emphasizing that women are key to building and shaping the nation.

He highlighted the importance of empowering and educating women for the betterment of future generations and stressed that their role in the progress of the country cannot be overstated.

These remarks underline the government’s ongoing efforts to create a more inclusive society where women can thrive and contribute meaningfully to Pakistan’s future.
