Islamabad (Web Desk): A video of horse-trading during 2018 Senate polls has emerged.

The video shows a man handing over a huge money, reportedly Rs20 million, to various provincial lawmakers belonging to the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf and others.

The lawmakers can be seen counting bundles of notes and putting them inside a bag.

The money was allegedly given to secure their votes for the PPP and its candidate during the 2018 Upper House polls.

Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Asad Umar on Tuesday said that introduction of open-ballot voting in the Senate aimed curb horse-trading in the upcoming Senate polling.

Addressing a press conference alongside Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz, Umar said every possible measure, within the Constitution, will be taken to ensure transparency in the polling process. He said the decisions were taken at the federal cabinet meeting, which held under Prime Minister Imran Khan’s chair.

Speaking on the occasion, Faraz said the cabinet has approved extension of Afghan-Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement for three months with effect from Thursday. He said the cabinet also expressed displeasure on the unscheduled load shedding, and asked the authorities concerned to end this on urgent basis.
