Washington (Web Desk): Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that it is crucial for Pakistan to be a part of the Afghan peace process.

Addressing a gathering at the US Institute of Peace on Friday, the PPP chairman said Pakistan needed to strategise for the time when the American forces finally pull out of Afghanistan.

Later, speaking to journalists, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said the solution to any conflict was reconciliation and that peace in Pakistan was directly related to that of Afghanistan's.

The PPP chairman pointed out that reconciliation is not assuring the enemy and agreeing to their demands but when all stakeholders realise the error of their ways, accept responsibility, and reach an understanding after acknowledging the mistakes.

“If one stakeholder is satisfied and their demands accepted, then it would be destructive for Pakistan and the South Asian region’, he noted.

Bilawal also spoke about the US-Pakistan relations and underscored that Islamabad had made innumerable sacrifices in the war against terror.

The PPP chairman further said he has proposed that all parties come together and work out a new charter of democracy to deal with such issues.

He also highlighted the need to curb extremism, ensure implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) and the state of Pakistan’s economy.
