Washington (Web Desk): During Donald Trump’s second term as US President, Pakistan has strengthened its diplomatic position significantly. The country not only established effective diplomatic relations but also gained notable trust from Washington in various key sectors.
In this period, Pakistan has achieved a level of diplomatic prominence that has been rare in recent years. Progress on three fronts—trust, access, and investment—has brought Islamabad back to the forefront in Washington.
Sources suggest that the personal chemistry between President Trump, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and General Asim Munir has been a key factor in strengthening ties. Trump invited both leaders to the White House multiple times. Pakistan’s cooperation in major issues, such as the capture of the mastermind behind the Kabul bombing, further solidified mutual trust.
One of the significant developments occurred in the critical minerals sector, where a $500 million deal was signed between Pakistan’s Frontier Works Organization (FWO) and an American company. Similarly, there has been an increase in partnership within the cryptocurrency sector between Pakistan’s Crypto Council and World Liberty Financial.
Analysts point out that Trump’s tough stance on India, including tariffs, Russian oil purchases, and the rising tensions between Pakistan and India, created a diplomatic opportunity for Pakistan. In the May ceasefire, Pakistan praised Trump’s role, while India did not accept the claim.
The growing warmth in Pakistan-US relations has led to a softer narrative from Washington towards Islamabad.
Pakistan seeks that its future relationship with the U.S. remains free from the influence of any third country’s perspective.
