PM Shehbaz for ensuring safe evacuation of Pakistanis from Syria

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday directed relevant authorities to quickly devise a plan for the safe evacuation of Pakistanis who wish to return from Syria, utilizing neighboring countries if necessary.

Chairing a meeting to assess the situation in Syria and ensure the safety of Pakistani nationals there, the prime minister stressed that protecting the lives and property of Pakistanis is of utmost importance.

He urged the authorities to mobilize all available resources for this purpose.

Meanwhile, the prime minister directed the Pakistani Embassy in Damascus to establish an information desk and a helpline to assist citizens in need.

He also called for the continuous operation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Crisis Management Unit and the information desks at Pakistani embassies in Syria and its neighboring countries, ensuring they remain active round the clock until the security situation improves.

The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Minister Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Cheema, Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, and senior officials from relevant departments, and others.
