Peshawar (Web Desk): The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Monday granted transit bail to several leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday, including Opposition Leader in the National Assembly
Justice Sahibzada Asadullah considered Ayub's plea, where his lawyer argued that the multiple cases filed against him in Islamabad and Punjab made it difficult for the PTI leader to appear in court without the risk of being arrested. The court allowed Ayub temporary bail until January 8, directing him to attend the relevant courts.
Similarly, PTI leader Umair Niazi was granted a 20-day transit bail by Justice Asadullah, with instructions to appear before the concerned authorities.
PHC Chief Justice (CJ) Ishtiaq Ibrahim led hearings for other PTI leaders who had applied for transit bail, including Shandana Gulzar, Arbab Amir Ayub, Asif Khan, and Arbab Sher Ali.
During the proceedings, Omar Ayub submitted a further petition, alleging that he had been arrested in Rawalpindi despite holding protective bail during a previous court appearance.
In response, the court granted him additional transit bail until January 9 for a case in Faisalabad while extending the earlier bail until January 8 for other cases.
Advocate Moazzam Butt, representing several PTI leaders, told the court that his clients were facing charges in Islamabad and Faisalabad, following the D-Chowk protest.
He also mentioned that Arbab Sher Ali was not in the country when the charges were filed against him.
After confirming that all the petitioners were serving members of the National Assembly, the PHC CJ granted a three-week transit bail to Shandana Gulzar, Arbab Sher Ali, Arbab Amir Ayub, and Asif Khan, enabling them to appear before the relevant courts.
