Karachi (Web Desk): A second case of the monkeypox virus has been reported in the city. According to Dr. Abdul Waheed Rajput, MS of the Sindh Infectious Diseases Hospital, a 22-year-old male has shown all symptoms of monkeypox.
Dr. Rajput stated that the young patient has no history of international or domestic travel, indicating that the virus may be spreading locally. The patient is a resident of the Buffer Zone area of Karachi.
The Sindh Infectious Diseases Hospital confirmed that the first case this year was reported in January, making this the second confirmed case.
Health officials have urged residents to remain vigilant for symptoms such as fever, body rashes, and general fatigue.
Medical experts have advised the public to take precautionary measures, including avoiding crowded places, minimizing physical contact with infected individuals, and practicing frequent hand hygiene.
Sindh government and health authorities have assured citizens that all necessary steps are being taken to prevent further spread of the virus.
