In a post shared on his social media handle X, the prime minister emphasized that Pakistan will continue to work tirelessly alongside its friends and partners in the shared goal of achieving lasting peace in the region.
It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan is set to host crucial delegation-level US-Iran negotiations after Washington and Tehran agreed a 15-day ceasefire on following Prime Minster Shehbaz Sharif’s appeal to US President Donald Trump to extend the deadline regarding the Iran issue by two weeks and requested Iran to keep the Strait of Hormuz open for an additional two weeks.
In a significant development, high-level delegations from the US and Iran are set to arrive in the federal capital tonight, raising expectations for a potential diplomatic breakthrough.
According to details released by the White House, US President Donald Trump has decided to dispatch a high-powered delegation to Pakistan to pursue direct negotiations with Iran.
The US delegation will be led by Vice President JD Vance and includes Middle East expert Steve Witkoff as well as former senior adviser Jared Kushner.
