Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has voiced optimism that the newly concluded Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia will serve as a catalyst for expanding cooperation across strategic, economic, trade, and defence domains.

He shared these remarks during a meeting in Islamabad with a delegation of the Saudi Shura Council, headed by its Chairman Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-Sheikh.

Welcoming the visiting dignitaries, the prime minister extended warm greetings and best wishes to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, and prayed for his continued good health.

Shehbaz Sharif praised Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman for his remarkable leadership, saying his forward-looking vision has transformed Saudi Arabia into a model of progress, particularly through economic growth, social reforms, and the empowerment of women.

Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed described the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement as a milestone that mirrors the deep-rooted and historic brotherhood between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

He underscored the value of reinforcing parliamentary collaboration between the two friendly nations.

The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to enhance the exchange of parliamentary delegations to further solidify their longstanding partnership.

This development coincides with Pakistan’s establishment of an 18-member committee tasked with overseeing bilateral economic relations and negotiations with Saudi Arabia. Last month, both nations signed a mutual defense pact committing to a coordinated response in the event of any aggression.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) confirmed that Prince Mansour and his delegation would engage with Pakistani leadership, senior officials, chambers of commerce, and prominent business groups to explore opportunities for expanding trade and investment.
