California (Web Desk): Meta's founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan are facing severe criticism for operating an unlicensed school at their private residence.
According to a report by an American magazine, the couple had established a school at their family compound around 2021, where approximately 30 students were enrolled. However, the school did not receive formal approval until 2022.
The report states that Zuckerberg's neighbors filed multiple complaints regarding the noise, construction activities, private security presence, and traffic and parking issues caused by the school.
Neighbors alleged that the city's administration was giving special treatment to the Zuckerberg family, while disregarding the rest of the community.
In an email, some neighbors expressed surprise that the city's officials were catering to a billionaire family while leaving the other residents in the dark.
A spokesperson for the Zuckerberg family clarified that the school was not shut down but had been relocated to a different location.
A spokesperson for the city of Palo Alto stated that no special privileges were given to the Zuckerberg family, and all city zoning, construction, and safety laws were enforced equally.
The Montessori-style school, known as Bucken Bin School, was ordered to close by June 30.
