Tehran (Web Desk): Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has said that the United States (US) should be held directly accountable for what he described as repeated violations of the ongoing ceasefire, adding that Iran does not see Israel’s regional actions as independent of US influence or policy direction, according to reporting by Al Jazeera.
Addressing a live press conference, Baqaei argued that developments involving Israel in the region cannot be separated from Washington’s role, insisting that US policies are closely tied to the situation on the ground.
He further maintained, as cited by Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, that it is widely inconceivable for Israel to act without coordination or alignment with the United States, reinforcing Iran’s position that both actors are politically and operationally linked in regional affairs.
Baghaei further said Iran does not have problems with its neighbouring countries, but expressed concern over certain states that, in his view, have permitted their territory to be used against Iran.
He also strongly criticised Israel, accusing it of conducting what he described as a prolonged three-year campaign of genocide in Gaza.
In the same context, Baghaei expressed disappointment with regional reactions, specifically naming Egypt for what he said was insufficient public condemnation of the situation.
He said Iran remains committed to upholding the ceasefire, even as, he alleged, both the United States and Israel continue to violate its terms.
The Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson described these developments as part of a broader strategic approach by Washington.
He further claimed that Israeli military actions have also continued in Lebanon despite existing ceasefire understandings, stressing that Lebanon is an integral component of the agreement.
Baghaei emphasised that Tehran seeks full enforcement of all ceasefire obligations across every front, including Lebanon, and warned that Iran would not allow the framework to be undermined.
He added that both Israel and the United States, in his view, are attempting to weaken the agreement, while warning that Iran cannot remain silent in the face of ongoing violations and is prepared to respond decisively to any hostile move.
Turning to nuclear-related matters, he criticised International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) chief Rafael Grossi, accusing him of disregarding facts and adopting what he described as a biased and anti-Iran position, warning that such conduct could undermine the credibility of the global nuclear watchdog.
He also alleged that Israel has been involved in multiple so-called false-flag operations, saying recent incidents have further deepened mistrust.
Baghaei added that talks with the US have been taking place in an atmosphere of deep suspicion, arguing that inconsistencies in Washington’s approach have created uncertainty in diplomatic engagement, and warning that these dynamics are likely to further complicate future negotiations between the two sides.
