Mandi Bahauddin (Web Desk): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz said that former PM Nawaz Sharif is innocent and has been wrongly punished.
Addressing a public rally in Mandi Bahauddin on Sunday night, she reiterated the demand for the release of incarcerated former premier Nawaz Sharif.
Referring to the video of an accountability court judge, Muhammad Arshad, the PML-N leader, said that keeping Nawaz Sharif in jail will be a crime now.
“Nawaz Sharif has been declared innocent as mischief against him has been proven,” Maryam said.
The PML-N leader said that the enemies have surrounded Nawaz Sharif and his family members.
Criticising the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, Maryam Nawaz said that inflation has reached new heights. She demanded that Prime Minister Imran Khan should resign.
“Selected Prime Minister Imran Khan should resign and quit his office,” said Maryam.
Earlier upon her arrival, the PML-N leader said it usually took two-and-a-half hours to travel from Lahore to Mandi Bahauddin, but due to huge crowds everywhere it took her 10 hours. “It shows who the real leader whom the people support is,” she said.
Commenting on Maryam’s rally, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said the PML-N has no capacity to hold public gatherings.
In a tweet on Monday, she said Maryam Safdar could not hold a public gathering in Mandi Bahuddin but it was mere a corner meeting. She said that the PML-N is now organising workers' conventions as it no longer enjoys the support of revenue officers, administration and police to hold public gatherings.
'Abu Bachao' campaign of Maryam Safdar has flopped after the statement of accountability court's judge, Awan said.
She said the people elect the prime minister and with the power of their votes, they have taken to task the plunderers and thrown them out of system.
“There is no restriction on Maryam Safdar to seek solace in daydreaming”, the SAPM on information said.
On Saturday, PML-N vice President Maryam Nawaz during a press conference released an alleged video of Accountability Court Judge Arshad Malik, claiming that he had been "pressurised and blackmailed" to convict former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the Al-Azizia reference.
Accountability Court judge Arshad Malik on Sunday refuted the controversial claims made by Maryam.
Terming the videos fake, the judge said that former PM Nawaz Sharif was convicted in the Al-Azizia reference on basis of evidences.
