Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 423,179 on Tuesday after 2,885 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.
Overall, 186,212 cases were reported in Sindh, 124,191 in Punjab, 50,078 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 17,501 in Balochistan, 33,061 in Islamabad, 4,746 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 7,390 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
According to the government's Covid-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached 8,487 with 89 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.
Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 370,474 after another 13,932 virus recoveries were reported.
Meanwhile, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on National Health Services Dr Faisal Sultan has again urged people to strictly adhere to the precautionary measures to contain spread of COVID-19.
Talking to media in Islamabad on Tuesday, he said the second wave of the novel coronavirus is getting intensified as 89 people have died of COVID-19 during the last twenty-four hours.
“By following the SOPs, including wearing of face mask and social distancing, we will be able to overcome the second wave as well like the first wave,” the SAPM said.
It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 67.5 million and death toll tops 1.543 million.
