Lahore (Web Desk): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed authorities concerned to introduce uniform waste management standards and intensify monitoring to deliver visible improvements in cleanliness across the province.

She gave the instructions while presiding over a special meeting in Lahore to assess progress under the ‘Suthra Punjab’ programme.

The Punjab chief minister ordered the introduction of standardized dustbins and garbage bags at markets, bazaars and commercial centres, stressing that sanitation arrangements should follow the same standards across the province.

She also directed officials to make door-to-door waste collection available in every area of Punjab.

Maryam Nawaz further assigned Additional Deputy Commissioners (Social Services) the responsibility of maintaining regular checks on sanitation conditions and ensuring that prescribed cleanliness standards are being followed.

The Punjab CM made it clear that negligence or poor performance would not be tolerated, announcing a zero-tolerance approach toward non-performance.

The authorities were also directed to ensure the routine washing and upkeep of sanitation vehicles, waste containers and designated garbage collection sites.
