Pakistan’s tally of recovered COVID-19 patients reaches 259,604

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The total number of recovered COVID-19 patients in Pakistan reached 259,604 on Saturday after another 1,505 virus recoveries were reported during the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 283,487 after 842 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country over the last twenty four hours.

Overall, 123,246 cases were reported in Sindh, 94,223 in Punjab, 34,539 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 11,835 in Balochistan, 15,214 in Islamabad, 2,301 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 2,129 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's Covid-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached 6,068 with 14 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Moreover, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has directed the provinces to devise guidelines for managing tourism to contain the resurgence of COVID-19 outbreak.

The directives were given in the NCOC meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar in Islamabad on Saturday.

The meeting discussed opening up of tourism sector with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines for containment of the disease.

The forum highlighted that violations of SOPs have been observed at almost all tourist destination and emphasized that, if tourism not managed well, it might create a pandemic outbreak.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 19 million and death toll tops 722,000.
