Karachi  (Web Desk): Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has stated that the PPP will support the amendment to Article 243 and emphasized the need for the establishment of constitutional courts.

Speaking to the media after a meeting of the PPP Central Executive Committee (CEC), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that other issues related to the Charter of Democracy should also be considered. He highlighted the importance of establishing constitutional courts in the country to ensure that decisions are made in accordance with the constitution.

Bilawal further stated that the PPP would support the government's proposal regarding the appointment of judges. However, he made it clear that the government should not have the authority to transfer judges. According to Bilawal, the authority for the appointment and transfer of judges should remain with the Judicial Commission to maintain the independence and autonomy of the judiciary.

According to sources, there was a difference of opinion among PPP members during the CEC meeting regarding the appointment and transfer of judges. Some members of the CEC argued that the government should not have the authority to transfer judges, and that this power should be vested in the Judicial Commission.

During the meeting, senior party members also expressed concerns that if the judiciary becomes weak, the political leaders would ultimately bear the consequences, which could be detrimental to the country’s politics and democracy.
