Washington (Web Desk): US President Donald Trump has said that a peace agreement with Iran could potentially be finalized within the next week, indicating optimism over ongoing diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran.
Speaking during a telephone interview with a US television channel, President Trump warned that if Iran does not move quickly to open the Strait of Hormuz or delay progress on a deal, the United States could respond with further military action. He stressed that time was running out for Iran to take meaningful steps toward an agreement.
Earlier, Trump had also claimed that discussions between the United States and Iran had shown positive momentum over the past 24 hours. According to him, Iran is currently reviewing a U.S.-backed proposal aimed at ending tensions and de-escalating the conflict.
He further stated that the prospects for a deal remain strong and that reaching an agreement is “very possible,” suggesting that both sides are closer to understanding common ground.
President Trump also remarked that the United States is seeking to secure enriched uranium from Iran, reiterating that Tehran must not be allowed to possess nuclear weapons under any circumstances.
He emphasized that Washington is engaging with individuals inside Iran who support a negotiated settlement.
However, he added that the final decision now rests with Iran, as it must decide whether to accept the proposed deal or risk further escalation.
