Peshawar (Staff Report): Provincial Finance Minister Muzzafar Said on Wednesday presented fifth budget of PTI-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in provincial assembly for fiscal year 2017-18.

Earlier, the provincial cabinet, headed by Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, approved the budget recommendations.

Delivering the budget speech, the finance minster said that the government was struggling for human resources development since holding the office.

The provincial government allocated Rs 126 billion for development programmes, while Rs 385 billion for non-development programmes.

Opposition parties objected to the finance minister’s presentation of the budget, with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz MPA Aurangzeb Nalotha saying the minister is accused in the Bank of Khyber scandal and thus should not be on the floor of the House. He suggested the minister of local government or the chief minister to present the budget.

Chief Minister Pervez Khattak rejected the allegations, saying the minister is not an accused in the case.
