Kargil hero Havildar Lalak Jan remembered on 27th martyrdom anniversary

Rawalpindi (Web Desk): The 27th martyrdom anniversary of Kargil War hero Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed, recipient of the Nishan-e-Haider, is being commemorated across the country today with deep respect and veneration.

As part of the observance, Quran Khawani and special prayers were arranged in mosques nationwide to pay tribute to the fallen hero and remember his unmatched sacrifice for the nation.

President Asif Ali Zardari, in his message marking the occasion, honored Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed for his extraordinary courage and supreme devotion to Pakistan.

He said the sacrifices made by the country's martyrs serve as the foundation of a secure, resilient, and honorable future.

The president further remarked that the legacy left behind by these brave sons of the soil forms an enduring and cherished part of Pakistan's national identity.

He said that the nation would forever hold its martyrs in the highest esteem, remembering their selfless sacrifices with gratitude, dignity, and pride.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also paid glowing tribute to Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed on his martyrdom anniversary, describing his fearless conduct and ultimate sacrifice during the Kargil conflict as a lasting symbol of patriotism and national pride.

The prime minister noted that despite sustaining severe injuries on the battlefield, Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed refused to retreat and continued confronting the enemy with exceptional determination, setting an unforgettable example of courage and loyalty to the homeland.

He added that the people of Pakistan would always honor the memory of this valiant hero, along with all those martyrs who laid down their lives in defence of the country.

Meanwhile, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, and the Armed Forces of Pakistan have solemnly commemorated the martyrdom anniversary of Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, paying profound tribute to his extraordinary courage, unwavering devotion and supreme sacrifice in the defence of the motherland during the Kargil conflict.

“On this day in 1999, Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed displayed exceptional gallantry and steadfast resolve while defending his post against relentless enemy attacks. Despite sustaining critical injuries, he refused evacuation. He continued to lead by example, fighting with indomitable determination until he embraced martyrdom in the line of duty,” said a statement issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The statement added that his immortal sacrifice remains a shining symbol of courage, resilience and selfless service. The Armed Forces of Pakistan and the nation honour his enduring legacy with profound respect and gratitude. His life and sacrifice continue to inspire present and future generations to uphold the highest ideals of duty, honour and patriotism.

“The people and Armed Forces reaffirm their unwavering commitment to preserving the sacred trust of the Shuhada-e-Pakistan and defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the nation with the same spirit of courage, dedication and honour,” the ISPR said.
