Islamabad (Web Desk): Prominent religious leaders from different schools of thought have expressed strong condemnation of the recent bombing at an Imambargah in Islamabad, reaffirming their collective stand against terrorism.
Addressing a press conference alongside Ulema in Islamabad, Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman Hafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, said that the perpetrators of the attack were enemies of both Islam and Pakistan, whose ultimate fate is hell.
He said that the suicide attacker had received training in Afghanistan and urged the leadership of the Afghan Taliban to clarify when such attacks will finally end.
Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi highlighted that the National Peace Message Committee was established specifically to promote peace and harmony across the country.
He noted that scholars from all schools of thought visited the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) to offer prayers for the injured and express solidarity, demonstrating that religious leaders have always stood united in times of tragedy. He emphasized that those who target the houses of Allah are not deserving of any leniency.
Speaking about the involvement of foreign hands in the attack, the Pakistan Ulema Council chief said that India seeks to avenge its failures in the “battle of truth” by targeting innocent civilians, as it lacks the courage for direct confrontation with Pakistan’s armed forces.
He reiterated that the suicide attacker had been trained in Afghanistan and questioned Afghan leadership on when such operations would cease.
Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi warned in no uncertain terms that if Pakistan is capable of defeating an enemy eight times its size, the forces behind these attacks have little chance of success and should not provoke the nation.
“These attacks are driven by forces seeking to weaken Islam and Pakistan, but they will never succeed in their objectives,” he said.
