Muscat (Web Desk): The first round of indirect talks between Iran and the United States (US) regarding Iran's nuclear program has concluded in Oman’s capital, Muscat.
Both sides have described the discussions as positive and have agreed to maintain communication in the future. However, Iran's leadership emphasized that "mutual respect" is a fundamental condition for the success of the negotiations.
At the end of the talks, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif spoke to the media, acknowledging the "deep trust gap" caused by last year's bitter experiences and Washington's policies, which has posed a major hurdle in the negotiations.
The Iranian delegation made it clear that Tehran will not compromise on its nuclear rights and national interests, and that a dignified agreement is essential for regional stability.
They described the recent meeting as a "good start" and mentioned that if this positive trend continues, a solid framework could be reached.
On the other hand, US President Donald Trump also called the talks "very good discussions" and hinted that both delegations may meet again next week. US officials have insisted that any agreement must include Iran's missile program and regional activities, while Iran remains adamant about limiting the discussions to the nuclear issue alone.
