California (Web Desk): Google Wallet has introduced a new feature aimed at giving parents greater control over their children’s spending.

Under the new facility, parents in the United States can set a dedicated balance for children and teenagers under the age of 18.

The funds can then be used for contactless payments at physical stores through Google Pay’s NFC tap-to-pay service on Android phones or Wear OS smartwatches.

However, the feature is limited to in-store contactless transactions and cannot be used for online purchases.

Parents can manage their children’s funds through Google Family Link, including setting spending limits, monitoring transactions in real time, and locking or unlocking the available balance when needed. Google also plans to introduce scheduled automatic payments in the future.

To use the service, a child must be under 18, have a supervised Google Account and be part of a Google Family Group.

The child’s Android phone or Wear OS smartwatch must also have the Google Wallet app installed.
