Wana (Web Desk): At least two people lost their lives and 14 others sustained injuries in an explosion that struck near a police van in the Rustam Bazar area of Wana, Lower South Waziristan, on Thursday.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Imran Ullah, the blast appeared to target law enforcement personnel and resulted in casualties among both civilians and police officials.

The DSP stated that among the injured were two police force officials.

Following the attack, authorities declared a state of emergency at the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Wana to ensure immediate medical attention for those wounded in the incident.

The law enforces have cordoned off the area and launched a thorough search operation to locate those responsible for the attack.

A senior official stated that efforts are also being made to identify the type of explosive device used in the blast.

The incident occurred just a day after three Frontier Constabulary (FC) members lost their lives when unknown gunmen targeted their vehicle in the Garagri area of Karak district in KP.
