Islamabad (Web Desk): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has held separate telephone discussions with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and Turkiye to take forward the understandings reached under the Makkah Defence Alliance.
The Foreign Office said Dar spoke by phone with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan as part of efforts to advance cooperation under the defence arrangement.
Signed on August 7, the agreement brought Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye together amid the Middle East conflict that erupted on February 28 following joint US-Israeli strikes against Iran and attacks aimed at its senior leadership.
The three countries subsequently held the first meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee, established under the agreement, in Istanbul on August 31.
During his conversation with Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal, FM Dar discussed the evolving regional and global situation along with matters of mutual interest being considered at multilateral forums.

The two foreign ministers also reviewed the progress of commitments and understandings reached at the inaugural session of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee of the Makkah Defence Alliance in Istanbul.
They agreed to continue maintaining close communication and coordination on matters of mutual concern.
In his separate call with FM Hakan Fidan, DPM Dar conveyed his appreciation to the Turkish foreign minister for hosting the committee's inaugural meeting under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement in Istanbul.

The Pakistani and Turkish foreign ministers then reviewed the understandings reached during the gathering and explored steps to broaden cooperation within the framework of the Makkah Defence Alliance.
Their discussion also covered regional and international affairs, issues of shared interest and prospects for enhancing collaboration through multilateral forums.
Dar and Fidan concluded the conversation by agreeing to remain in regular and close contact.
Separately, DPM Dar also held a telephonic conversation with his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty during which the two officials reviewed the state of relations between Pakistan and Egypt.
The discussion also covered major regional and international developments, with both ministers sharing their perspectives on issues affecting regional stability and security.
During the call, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty extended an invitation to Ishaq Dar to visit Egypt for bilateral discussions at a mutually suitable time.
The two sides expressed their determination to further deepen cooperation and build stronger relations between Pakistan and Egypt. They also agreed to continue maintaining close contact and coordination on matters related to regional security.
DPM Dar and Badr Abdelatty further agreed to hold a meeting on the sidelines of the forthcoming session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
