Tel Aviv (Web Desk): Israel’s Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, has threatened that if ongoing negotiations with Hamas over the release of hostages fail, the Israeli military will launch a large-scale operation in Gaza once again.
Addressing senior commanders, he said that the current situation should not be mistaken for a ceasefire, but rather a shift in operational strategy. Zamir said the armed forces must remain ready to resume combat at any moment if diplomacy falters.
The Israeli army chief noted that the military achievements gained through recent operations are being utilized to strengthen Israel’s position in political talks.
However, he cautioned that if the diplomatic path does not yield the desired outcomes, the army will return to the battlefield.
He further stated that Israel continues to act aggressively, systematically weakening its enemy on all fronts, and reshaping realities across the region.
His remarks came at a time when indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas are expected to continue regarding the release of remaining hostages.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump had also warned that if Hamas refuses to relinquish control of Gaza, Israel could be pushed to completely eliminate the group — a statement that adds further tension to the already delicate negotiation process.
