Washington/New Delhi (Web Desk): A recent report by the U.S. magazine DC Journal has raised concerns that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 'pro-Israel and anti-Iran foreign policy' could pose serious risks to India’s strategic and economic interests.
According to the report, India’s unbalanced foreign policy has placed the country in a challenging position in the Middle East.
The magazine notes that Modi’s current policies are negatively affecting the employment and visa status of millions of Indian workers in the Gulf countries. India is increasingly being perceived as part of a “pro-Israel security bloc”, undermining its decades-long image of neutrality.
The report warns that Modi’s open closeness with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has strained India’s relations with Islamic countries, particularly Iran. This diplomatic distance could threaten India’s access to energy resources and disrupt long-term strategic projects in Central Asia, including the Chabahar Port initiative.
Additionally, remittances from Gulf countries, which are considered a lifeline for India’s economy, are now at risk.
International observers believe that India’s “one-sided” approach could isolate it regionally. The DC Journal emphasizes that unless New Delhi adopts a more balanced foreign policy, the country may face significant economic setbacks as well as strategic challenges, jeopardizing both its regional influence and economic stability.
