Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a key meeting on Thursday to review the National Youth Employment Plan, which focuses on providing the youth with training programs aligned with the needs of the market and industry.
The plan, designed for implementation over the next four years, aims to equip young individuals with the skills necessary to access job opportunities.
PM Shehbaz had decided to personally chair the monthly review meeting and would personally monitor the implementation of the plan, the Prime Minister’s Office news release said.
During the meeting, the premier highlighted the immense potential of Pakistan's youth, stressing that they are the country’s most valuable asset.
He emphasized the government's efforts to enhance the skills of the younger generation by offering vocational training that meets both domestic and global demand.
The government’s broader goal is to promote the export of skilled labour, with training programs meeting international standards to help Pakistani youth gain access to global employment opportunities.
PM Shehbaz instructed relevant authorities to work closely with local industries to better understand the specific skill requirements for training youth in various sectors.
He also called for the creation of a detailed database to track the skills needed by industries in Pakistan.
The meeting further revealed that over the next four years, between 2.4 million and 6 million young people would receive vocational training and be assisted in securing employment.
The plan also takes into account the labor market needs of both local industries and international organizations seeking skilled workers.
In line with the plan, the Digital Youth Hub is nearing completion and is set to launch later this month.
The prime minister expressed appreciation for the dedicated efforts of ministries and institutions involved in the execution of this comprehensive plan.
Federal Ministers Ahad Khan Cheema and Shaza Fatima Khawaja, along with Chairman of the Prime Minister's Youth Program Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan and Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, alongside relevant senior officials attended the meeting.
