Islamabad (Web Desk): The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert over a powerful cold wave sweeping northern Pakistan and parts of northern Balochistan.

The National Emergencies Operations Center (NEOC) warned that frigid conditions are expected to persist in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Potohar region, and northern Balochistan in the days ahead.

Northern Balochistan, particularly Quetta, Ziarat, and Kalat, is likely to experience a sharp intensification of the cold. Officials cautioned that the extreme chill could increase the risk of respiratory problems and advised citizens to take all necessary precautions to safeguard their health.

Farmers have been urged to protect standing crops from possible damage caused by the severe cold. Meanwhile, motorists and commuters in low-lying areas should remain alert during morning travel, as dense fog combined with harsh winter conditions may create dangerous driving situations.

The NDMA emphasized that it is working to ensure timely warnings and is actively sharing updates with both relevant authorities and the public to reduce the impact of the severe weather.
