Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday expressed heartfelt concern and wished a quick recovery for civilians, among them three Pakistani nationals, who were hurt after debris from an intercepted projectile fell at Khor Fakkan Port in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
“Deeply concerned at the incident at Khor Fakkan port in the UAE, where an intercepted projectile caused injuries to civilians, including Pakistani nationals,” the prime minister wrote on his X timeline.
He noted that Pakistani officials were in constant communication with the UAE authorities to make sure that all possible assistance was being provided to the affected Pakistani citizens.
“Pakistan stands in solidarity with the brotherly people of the UAE and reiterates the urgent need for restraint and de-escalation in the region,” PM Shehbaz remarked.
As per information shared by UAE authorities, four individuals were wounded in the April 5 incident, including a Nepalese national who suffered critical injuries, while three Pakistani nationals sustained injuries of minor to moderate nature.
The episode occurred when defence forces intercepted a wave of aerial threats comprising nine ballistic missiles, one cruise missile, and 50 drones launched from Iran.
Since the conflict escalated in the region, these attacks have claimed the lives of two members of the armed forces along with 10 civilians of different nationalities, including Pakistani, Nepalese, Bangladeshi, Palestinian, Indian, and Egyptian citizens, while approximately 217 others have been injured.
In total, four Pakistani nationals have lost their lives in the UAE due to falling debris from intercepted projectiles, with three fatalities reported in Abu Dhabi and one in Dubai.
