California (Web Desk): Google is set to roll out a major update for its popular Chrome web browser. According to reports, the new Chrome version 148 is expected to be released by mid-April.

The update aims to make web browsing faster and smoother. Reports indicate that lazy loading for videos and audio is being tested in Chrome.

For those unfamiliar, lazy loading delays the loading of non-essential or off-screen content. This improves page load times and reduces data usage.

For example, when visiting a website with numerous images, all elements typically load at once. With lazy loading, only the content currently visible on the screen loads immediately, while off-screen content loads only when the user scrolls to it.

This allows pages to open faster and provides a smoother browsing experience.

Currently, Chrome supports lazy loading for images, but the feature is now being extended to include videos and audio files.

The update is expected to be available across desktop, Android, and iOS platforms.
