Islamabad (Web Desk): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar presided over a meeting of the committee established by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to examine the proposed restructuring of the power sector.
The session focused on the progress made so far in advancing the government’s plans for reforms and privatisation, particularly measures aimed at improving the institutional framework and enhancing the capabilities of major organizations operating within the sector.
DPM Dar called for a consumer-oriented approach as the reforms move forward, stressing that changes in the power sector and the privatisation process must deliver tangible benefits to electricity users.
He said the initiatives should result in more efficient operations, greater financial and operational sustainability, and improved service delivery for consumers.
The deputy prime minister further stressed that the reform programme should be pursued with a strong emphasis on achieving concrete results, improving the performance of public institutions and ensuring that the power sector remains sustainable over the long term.
