COAS, army, civil officers and soldiers offer funeral prayers of Spinwam martyrs

Rawalpindi (Web Desk): The funeral prayer of the six Pakistan Army personnel, who embraced martyrdom during the exchange of fire with the Khawarij in the Spinwam area of North Waziristan, was offered at Peshawar Garrison, the military’s media wing said on Saturday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, along with senior serving Army and civil officials, and relatives of the martyrs attended the prayer.

 The statement said that six brave soldiers including Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Ali Shoukat, who was leading the troops, were martyred after security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in in Spinwam general area of North Waziristan.

The five soldiers who paid the ultimate sacrifice were identified as Lance Naik Muhammad Ullah, Lance Naik Akhtar Zaman, Lance Naik Shahid Ullah, Lance Naik Yusaf Ali and Sepoy Jameel Ahmed.

The bodies of the martyrs were sent to their native towns where they will be buried with full military honours.

“These sacrifices of our martyrs sustain our resolve and courage in the ongoing war against terrorism,” the ISPR said.
