Islamabad (Web Desk):World Teachers’ Day is being observed today (Wednesday) across the globe including Pakistan to express gratitude for the contributions of teachers in providing quality education at all levels.
The theme for World Teachers’ Day 2022 is "The change of education begins with teachers"
October 5 was recognised as World Teachers’ Day by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1994, with the aim of honouring the adoption of UNESCO/ILO Recommendation.
This was a part of the intergovernmental conference convened by UNESCO in Paris that recognised the status of teachers in cooperation with the International Labour Organization (ILO).
Various events were being arranged in many countries around the world to celebrate the day.
These include celebrations to honour teachers in general or those who have made a special contribution to a particular community.
The day may also be marked by conferences emphasizing the importance of teachers and learning, extra training sessions for teachers, recruitment drives for the teaching profession among university students or other suitably qualified professionals and events to increase the profile of teachers and the role they play in the media.
The celebrations will also address the commitments and calls for action made at the Transforming Education Summit, in September 2022, and analyse the implications they have for teachers and teaching.
