Beijing (Web Desk): TikTok has announced that its Direct Messages (DMs) feature will not include end-to-end encryption. The decision was revealed during a security briefing held in London.

The company explained that introducing end-to-end encryption could make users less safe, especially younger ones, because its safety teams and law enforcement agencies would not be able to access messages when necessary.

End-to-end encryption ensures that only the sender and recipient can read a message. TikTok stated that this is why the feature will not be implemented for DMs, with the primary goal being to protect minors on the platform.

However, messages on TikTok are still protected by standard encryption. Authorized personnel can access them only if authorities request it or if users report harmful behavior.

TikTok emphasized that this approach balances user privacy with safety measures, ensuring that potentially dangerous activity can be monitored without compromising overall security.
