Mumbai (Web Desk): In the second semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, India defeated England by 7 runs in a thrilling contest to qualify for the final.
Chasing a massive target of 254 runs, England managed to score 246 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their 20 overs and fell just short of the target.
In the match played in Mumbai, England captain Harry Brook won the toss and elected to field first, inviting India to bat.
India’s Innings
Batting first, India posted a huge total of 253 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Sanju Samson was the top scorer for India with an impressive 89 runs.
Shivam Dube scored 43, Ishan Kishan made 39, Hardik Pandya contributed 27, Tilak Varma added 21, while Suryakumar Yadav scored 11 runs.
For England, Will Jacks and Adil Rashid took two wickets each.
England’s Innings
While chasing the target, England fought hard but could only reach 246 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs.
Jacob Bethell played a brilliant knock of 105 runs for England. Will Jacks scored 35, while Jos Buttler added 25 runs.
For India, Hardik Pandya picked up two wickets.

The final of the T20 World Cup will be played on Sunday, March 8, between India and New Zealand in Ahmedabad.
