Islamabad (Staff Report/Agencies): Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday welcomed Chief Justice of Pakistan's (CJP) Justice Asif Saeed Khosa's statement on punishing those who give false testimony.
In his message on twitter, the prime minister said he welcomes CJP’s statement on punishing those who give false testimony. He added that the journey towards truth was a journey towards Naya Pakistan.
Khan said that nations become great because they have a higher value system.
The PM added that Muslim civilization's foundation was a State of Medina with truthfulness as the core of value.
On Tuesday, the CJP, while hearing a case regarding false testimony, stated that the court was curbing false testimonies and the testimony would be rejected if even a part of it would be based on lies.
"All witnesses should know that even if a part of a testimony is based on lies it will be rejected. We are curbing false testimonies from today and starting from this witness who lied,” CJP Asif Saeed Khosa had said.
Islam also states that if a part of a testimony is based on lies it should be rejected, he added. “In 1964, the Lahore High Court (LHC) judge had given a concession on this matter. The point of the concession was that people lie here anyway so if they want justice they should speak the truth,” Justice Khosa said. “False testimonies have destroyed the system,” He said.
