PML-N unveils manifesto with a slogan “Honour the vote — vote for service”

Lahore (Staff Report/Agencies): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday unveiled the party manifest ahead of the General Election 2018 with the slogan "Vote ko izzat do — khidmat ko vote do" [Honour the vote — vote for service].

Shehbaz promised to give employment to 2 million people under the self-employment schemes if PML-N wins the elections. The former CM said health cards will be issued all over the country. He slammed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf for not establishing hospitals and schools in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The former chief minister of Punjab said, “Empowering the underprivileged section of the society is part of the PML-N’s manifesto”. He said that endowment fund will be continued for poor children, adding that scholarships will be given to female students all over the country, in order to promote the education.

Technical and vocational institutions will be established at every school, he added.

The PML-N has pledged to:

Aspire for economic transformation by raising the GDP growth rate to over 7 per cent

Expand scope of investments

Minimise losses in state-owned enterprises

Eliminate poverty by 2030 through welfare programmes

Enable enterprise creation and employment

Impart technical training among people

Continue tax reforms to raise the tax-to-GDP ratio from 13pc to 16pc

Create at least 100,000-200,000 jobs

Party bigwigs, including former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Ahsan Iqbal, Ayaz Sadiq, are present on the occasion.
