Through this feature, users will be able to transfer their complete chat history from ChatGPT or any other AI chatbot directly into Gemini.
The goal of this update is to ensure that users do not lose their previous conversations, projects, preferences, and other important information when moving to a new platform. This will allow them to continue using their old data and personalized experience within Gemini.
Typically, AI chatbots use past conversations to provide more tailored responses, and long-term use helps improve personalization. However, when users switch to a new chatbot, this personalization usually starts from scratch. With this new feature, the transition will become smoother, helping users retain their personalized data.
According to reports, the feature is currently available in the beta version of Gemini’s web platform, suggesting that Google may soon roll it out for all users. The feature already supports chat history transfers from ChatGPT, Grok, and Claude, requiring users to download their chat data from those platforms and upload it into Gemini.
