Lahore (Web Desk): Punjab has witnessed a remarkable 25% increase in potato production compared to the previous year, resulting in a historic yield of 12 million metric tons in the province. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed her happiness over the record potato production and requested the Prime Minister to approve exports to ensure better prices for farmers.
Maryam Nawaz stated that practical steps toward agricultural cooperation between Punjab and Kazakhstan are underway, with significant progress expected regarding potato exports with the visiting Kazakh delegation. She emphasized that the Punjab government has contacted the federal government to promote potato exports and is actively working to access global markets. Kazakhstan will be the first new international market, followed by efforts to reach additional global agricultural markets.
The Chief Minister also clarified that the record potato production will not be allowed to result in low prices for farmers. Effective measures are being taken in coordination with the federal government to ensure farmers receive full compensation for their efforts.
Maryam Nawaz further remarked that the high potato yield will not cause problems for farmers but rather signal prosperity. She added that the government is taking steps to strengthen the agricultural sector through farmer-friendly policies.
