Islamabad (Web Desk/Agencies): As the nation observes Kashmir Solidarity Day, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for Kashmiris in their struggle for self-determination.

In his message, President Asif Ali Zardari called on the international community to take concrete steps to support the Kashmiri people in their ongoing fight for self-determination.

He emphasized that the United Nations (UN) must honour its longstanding commitments made nearly eight decades ago, ensuring that the people of Kashmir are granted the rights they deserve.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif echoed these sentiments, underscoring the significance of the day in reinforcing Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the Kashmiri cause.

He highlighted that the right to self-determination is an inherent principle of international law, affirming Pakistan's full support for the Kashmiri people's struggle to shape their own future.

The prime minister also condemned India’s actions in Jammu and Kashmir, which he described as illegal and oppressive.

He pointed out the suppression of political movements and the widespread human rights abuses taking place in the region.

PM Shehbaz called on the international community to exert pressure on India, urging the Indian government to allow the Kashmiris to exercise their right to self-determination.

He stressed that lasting peace in South Asia can only be achieved if India halts its efforts to stifle the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

Meanwhile, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), the service chiefs, and the Pakistan armed forces have reaffirmed their unwavering support for the resilient people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) in their just struggle for self-determination.

In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said armed forces of Pakistan strongly condemn the ongoing grave violations of human rights in IIOJK.

“These transgressions stand as a stark indictment of India’s blatant disregard for international law, humanitarian principles, and fundamental human rights,” the military’s media wing said.
