Amman (Web Desk): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held separate meetings with the foreign ministers of Jordan and Somalia on Wednesday on the sidelines of the Ministerial Meeting on Jerusalem in Amman, where the discussions centred on the evolving situation in the Middle East, developments in Jerusalem and the Occupied Palestinian Territories, and ways to further strengthen Pakistan's bilateral relations with both countries.
According to the Foreign Office (FO), DPM Dar met Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi and exchanged views on the deteriorating conditions in the Occupied West Bank.
He acknowledged Jordan's steadfast efforts to protect the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem and praised its continued support for the Palestinian people.
The two leaders also reviewed the wider regional situation, including recent developments involving Iran and the United States.
They agreed that dialogue and diplomatic engagement remain essential to lowering tensions and preventing further escalation.
Both sides welcomed the growing momentum in Pakistan-Jordan relations and reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in political, defence, economic, educational, cultural and people-to-people fields.
They also pledged to maintain close coordination at bilateral and multilateral platforms, including the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), in support of regional peace and stability.
DPM Dar also held meeting with Somalia's Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdisalam Abdi Ali. Their discussions focused on the latest regional developments, particularly the situation in the Middle East and the worsening conditions in East Jerusalem.
The two ministers also reviewed the longstanding brotherly relations between Pakistan and Somalia and explored opportunities to deepen cooperation in politics, the economy, defence, education and capacity building.
They reaffirmed their resolve to continue close coordination at multilateral forums on issues of shared interest.
Separately, Dar joined foreign ministers from the Arab League and the Group of Muslim Countries for the official group photograph at the Ministerial Meeting on Jerusalem.
