Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistan has rejected baseless and unfounded allegations of the involvement of its citizens in the conflict in Ukraine.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Foreign Office (FO), said that the Government of Pakistan categorically rejects the baseless and unfounded allegations of the involvement of Pakistani nationals in the conflict in Ukraine.

“To date, Pakistan has neither been formally approached by the Ukrainian authorities, nor has any verifiable evidence been presented to substantiate such claims”

The FO added that Pakistan shall take up this matter with the Ukrainian authorities, and seek clarification in this regard.

“Pakistan reaffirms its commitment to the peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict through dialogue and diplomacy, in accordance with the principles of the UN Charter,” the statement said.

The FO response came a day after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy recently claimed that troops in the northeastern region of the country are currently engaged in battles against foreign fighters allegedly supporting Russian forces.

He said that these individuals include mercenaries from countries such as China, Pakistan, and various African nations. He emphasized that Ukraine would respond appropriately to this development.

In the past, Zelenskiy has also accused Russia of enlisting Chinese nationals to join its military campaign against Ukraine—an allegation that Beijing has firmly denied. Additionally, there have been reports that North Korea has sent thousands of its troops to the Russian border area, specifically in the Kursk region, to support Moscow’s war efforts.
