Jeddah (Web Desk): Over 1800 Pakistani passengers, including a large number of Umrah pilgrims, women, and elderly individuals, are facing severe difficulties after Syrian Airlines abruptly suspended its flights from Jeddah.
Although the affected passengers were moved from Jeddah airport to nearby hotels, the accommodations lack basic facilities and adequate food arrangements. Reports indicate that up to five people are being forced to share rooms meant for two, causing considerable distress, especially for women and senior citizens.
Passengers have also reported a complete lack of communication with the airline’s local staff. Attempts to contact the Syrian Airlines manager in Jeddah have failed, as their phone remains constantly switched off, further escalating passengers’ concerns.
Moreover, the Pakistani Consulate in Jeddah has remained silent on the issue, leaving stranded passengers feeling helpless and abandoned.
The affected individuals have appealed to the Government of Pakistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and relevant authorities to urgently intervene and facilitate their immediate repatriation.
