California: WhatsApp has rolled out a new update to its Status feature, allowing users to share their status updates with individuals who are not saved in their contacts but have previously interacted with them through chats or calls.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, the feature is currently being tested in limited regions. With this update, users can make their status visible to people they have recently messaged or called, even if those individuals are not added to their contact list.
Earlier, a similar option appeared in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android devices under a “Close Friends” setting, which enabled users to share status updates with selected contacts only.
Now, WhatsApp has expanded the functionality to broaden the reach of status updates. Through this enhancement, users will be able to display their status to people they have previously communicated with, without the need to save their numbers in their contacts.
