Islamabad (Web Desk): The United States (US) has directed all non-emergency personnel and their families stationed in Karachi and Lahore to Leave Pakistan immediately, citing growing regional tensions and security risks.
According to an official statement issued by the US Embassy in Pakistan, the precautionary measure is being taken in light of the escalating situation between the US and Iran.
Intelligence and security assessments have flagged the potential threat of drone and missile attacks in the region, making the safety of diplomatic personnel a top priority.
The statement clarified that the operational status of the US Embassy in Islamabad remains unchanged.
Essential staff will continue performing their duties to ensure that vital diplomatic functions and services are maintained.
Key consular and administrative activities will continue without interruption to minimize disruption.
US officials stressed that the decision is temporary and will be reviewed continuously. “We are closely monitoring the situation on the ground and will take further measures as necessary to ensure the safety of our personnel,” the statement read.
Authorities also indicated that the US government is prepared to adjust its policies based on evolving security developments in Pakistan and the broader region.
