Rawalpindi (Web Desk): Pakistan has intensified its ground and air operations in response to unprovoked aggression by the Afghan Taliban, with the prominent American newspaper The New York Times confirming the country’s advances under Operation Ghazab lil-Haq.
According to the report, Pakistani forces successfully targeted the strategically significant Bagram Airbase in Afghanistan. The strike reportedly destroyed an aircraft hangar and two warehouses.
Satellite imagery corroborated the extent of the damage, while Afghanistan’s Ministry of Defence also acknowledged that a Pakistani airstrike had taken place.
The publication further stated that Pakistan carried out more than 50 airstrikes inside Afghan territory over the past week, focusing on what it described as militant military targets. In addition, multiple reports issued by the United Nations (UN) have repeatedly cited evidence regarding the presence of Fitna al-Khawarij elements in the region.
Defence analysts say the successful strike on Bagram Airbase has dealt a significant blow to the Afghan Taliban’s governing structure.
By targeting the installation, they argue, Pakistan has conveyed a clear message that it retains the capability to conduct operations anywhere inside Afghanistan if deemed necessary.
Pakistani has been repeatedly urging Kabul to take decisive action against terrorist groups operating from Afghan soil.
However, they contend that the continued presence of armed fighters and the use of weapons left behind by United States (US) forces have contributed to ongoing acts of militancy.
Separately, the security sources said that Pakistan Army is continuing action against Afghan Taliban, Fitna Al Khawarij and Fitna al Hindustan under Operation Ghazab Lil-Haq.
Security officials said that in the most recent round of operations, troops employed heavy arms to strike and eliminate militant sanctuaries at 50 sites.
The sources added that the coordinated offensives were executed in the areas of Qila Saifullah, Chaman, Sambaza, Ghudwana, Jani and the Ghaznali sector, where forces carried out targeted engagements aimed at dismantling hostile networks.
As per the sources, the militant outfits faced considerable setbacks during these actions, incurring notable casualties as well as extensive damage to their facilities and logistical assets.
