Tehran (Web Desk): Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei stated on Thursday that external opponents have shifted their approach toward what he described as “hybrid warfare”, alleging that their aim is to deepen internal divisions within Iranian society after what he called a “decisive blow” to their efforts.
In a message released on the anniversary of the passing of Iran’s founding leader, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, and published through his official X account as reported by domestic media outlets, Khamenei said Iran’s enemies have faced setbacks both on the battlefield and in public spaces, and are now experiencing embarrassment and setback as a result.
Khamenei added, “The malicious enemy has been defeated in its confrontation with the armed forces. Since it has received a decisive blow both in military combat and in Iran’s public squares and streets, it’s experiencing a profound and significant humiliation.
He further claimed that opposing forces are now concentrating their strategy on weakening national resilience and influencing state decision-making by spreading psychological pressure. In this context, he remarked, “The enemy has focused its schemes in hybrid warfare on two points: the resilience of the Iranian people and trying to create errors in the assessments of the country’s officials. The instrument it’s using for both is sowing the seeds of doubt, despair, fear, mistrust and discord.”
The Iranian supreme leader urged unity and collective firmness among the population and institutions, adding, “In confronting these ill intentions, everyone must, through steadfastness, insight, preserving unity and cohesion … neutralise their sinister plot,”
He also levelled criticism at Western influence in the region, saying that the United States and its allies have long established a dominant military presence which he linked to Israel, and argued that Iran’s independent position is being opposed as part of a broader geopolitical agenda.
“Imperialism, led by the US, has built a military base called Israel over the past 80 years. And they don’t accept the existence of a strong, independent Iran on the eastern border of the false, illegitimate geography of ‘Greater Israel’ — that is, east of the Euphrates River,” Khamenei said.
He further warned that internal negativity and public discouragement, in his view, serve the interests of Iran’s opponents, stating, “any act that causes pessimism and disappointment among the people is considered a kind of aid to the enemy of this country and its people”
The message was delivered at the mausoleum of Ayatollah Khomeini during ceremonies marking the 37th anniversary of his death, where a prayer leader read it aloud.
The event was attended by participants carrying national flags as well as banners associated with Hezbollah, and displayed portraits of Iran’s leadership figures amid ongoing regional tensions and recent ceasefire efforts following months of conflict and stalled negotiations.
