Washington (Web Desk): Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party and former Foreign Minister, described his recent discussions at the United Nations as highly productive and beneficial.
Speaking to newsmen at the Pakistan Mission in New York, he stated that the delegation representing Pakistan received a positive and understanding response to the country’s perspective on several pressing issues with India.
He particularly highlighted India’s threat to halt water flow to Pakistan, a matter he said drew significant international concern.
Reiterating Islamabad’s position, Bilawal emphasized Pakistan’s willingness to engage in a broad-based and inclusive dialogue with India, one that would also encompass the issue of terrorism.
He pointed out that Pakistan has endured some of the worst impacts of terrorism globally, bearing a disproportionately heavy toll in both human and economic terms.
The PPP chairman voiced deep alarm over India’s unilateral decision to suspend the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty, calling it a deliberate attempt to use water as a political tool.
He condemned the move as a clear breach of both international obligations and the spirit of the long-standing water-sharing agreement between the two countries.
Bilawal further warned that India’s increasingly aggressive posture was contributing to global insecurity, making the region—and the world—more unstable. He noted that these actions have serious and immediate consequences for peace and stability in South Asia.
He concluded by underlining Pakistan’s continued commitment to peaceful resolution, diplomatic engagement, and mutual restraint.
Bilawal Bhutto urged for the full reinstatement of the Indus Waters Treaty, strict adherence to the ceasefire agreement, and the revival of a comprehensive dialogue process—placing the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir issue at the center of such efforts.
