Islamabad (Web Desk): Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir on Thursday conveyed optimism about the country’s future, saying, “Everything is fine; it’s all in front of you.
“Things are moving towards improvement, and Pakistan will now soar to greater heights from here,” the COAS made these remarks while speaking informally to journalists at the Awain-e-Sadar in Islamabad.
The statement came soon after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif sent a summary to President Asif Ali Zardari recommending the appointment of Field Marshal Munir as Pakistan’s first Chief of Defence Forces (CDF).
According to a press release from the Prime Minister’s Office, PM Shehbaz approved the summary, endorsing Munir’s dual role as the COAS and the CDF, and subsequently forwarded it to the President for approval.
The appointment for both positions will last five years.
Meanwhile, the prime minister also sanctioned a two-year extension for Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, which will commence after the completion of his ongoing five-year tenure in March 2026, the PMO statement added.
